Finger Gym
Early Childhood Piano · Ages 4–6 · Certified Programme · George Town, Penang

Is My Child Ready for Piano Lessons?
It is the question Penang parents ask most when their child turns four or five: is it too early to start? The answer depends entirely on how the lesson is designed. Traditional piano instruction is too demanding for most children under six — but the Finger Gym programme was built precisely for this gap. And Spring Music Studio is proud to offer it as a certified Finger Gym teacher in George Town, Penang.
About Finger Gym
Finger Gym is an internationally recognised early childhood piano method developed by Alice Yap, a Singapore-based master's graduate in Piano Performance and Music Pedagogy. Used by certified teachers across Malaysia and Singapore, the programme is built on one principle: lay the right foundations before the notes, the exams, and the pressure begin.
Josephine is a certified Finger Gym teacher. The programme spans two levels (Level A and Level B, each 9–12 months), covering piano technique, ensemble play, aural training, and even a creative art module — engaging the whole child, not just the fingers.
Children who complete Finger Gym arrive at formal piano lessons with strong hands, natural rhythm, active listening skills, and a genuinely happy relationship with the piano. That last part is the hardest to build later, and the easiest to destroy too soon.
What children develop
Correct hand position and finger strength from day one
Rhythm, pulse, and early aural awareness
Note reading introduced only when the child is ready
Confidence at the piano before exams ever appear
Who is this for?
Children aged 4–6 in Penang. Also ideal for children who tried lessons elsewhere too young and lost interest — the right start changes everything.

My child is 4. Is that old enough?

We tried another music centre and it didn't work. Would this be different?
If the previous experience pushed formal lessons before your child was ready, yes — this will be very different.
